Describe your role as Trustee
As a Trustee, I bring strategic leadership experience from across the NHS, public health, academia, research and the voluntary sector. My role is to support the Board in shaping BHA’s long-term strategic direction, strengthening governance, and ensuring the organisation continues to deliver meaningful impact for the communities it serves. I am particularly interested in helping the organisation build strong partnerships across Greater Manchester, influence policy, and continue developing innovative approaches to tackling health inequalities. Drawing on my experience in population health, health equity, organisational strategy and community engagement, I hope to support BHA as it continues to grow its influence locally and nationally.
How long in the role?
I have recently joined the Board of Trustees.
What attracted you to the Board?
BHA has a long and respected history of championing health equity and improving outcomes for Black and racially minoritised communities. Throughout my own career, I have focused on reducing health inequalities, strengthening community voice, and improving how health systems respond to people who are often underserved or overlooked. Having previously worked alongside BHA through collaborative programmes and partnerships, I have seen first-hand the organisation’s credibility, expertise and deep roots within communities. Joining the Board felt like a natural opportunity to contribute my experience while supporting an organisation whose values closely align with my own commitment to equity, inclusion and social justice.
What would you like to see for BHA?
I would like to see BHA continue to strengthen its position as a trusted strategic partner within Greater Manchester and beyond, influencing policy while remaining firmly connected to the communities it serves. I see significant opportunities for the organisation to expand its work in prevention, mental wellbeing, population health, community engagement and health equity, while also growing its consultancy, research and evaluation offer. I would also like to see BHA continue building sustainable partnerships across the NHS, local government, universities and the voluntary sector so that its expertise increasingly informs system-wide approaches to reducing health inequalities.
Which achievements are you proud of?
As a new Trustee, I look forward to contributing to BHA’s future achievements. In my own career, I am particularly proud of leading and contributing to programmes that have improved access to health and wellbeing support, strengthened community engagement, advanced health equity, and influenced strategic thinking across Greater Manchester and beyond. Whether through NHS leadership, research, partnership working or community programmes, I have always been motivated by creating practical improvements that help people live healthier lives. I am excited to bring this experience to the Board and support BHA’s continued growth and impact.
