Tell us a little about your background? I am an equalities professional in the NHS with a focus on racial equity. I have also held roles in the social housing sector in London. I am also a member of the Greater Manchester Race Equality Panel, a panel whose role is to advise the Mayor of issues related to racial inequality in Greater Manchester and to support change across the public sector.
What made you interested in getting involved with BHA? I recently moved to Manchester and wanted to be involved in the community and contribute my knowledge and skill sets to the organisations that are driving change for residents. My experience in both healthcare and race equity seemed to fit with the mission and vision of BHA and their work, and I am honoured to be a part of such an organisation.
What do you enjoy most about being a Board Member? I enjoy seeing the community centred approach to health promotion and care as this gives a broader perspective to the challenges faced by communities, and the opportunities for health care services to be designed and developed with people at the centre. I also enjoy the knowledge exchange between Board Members, as we all come from different backgrounds, and bring interesting and well informed perspectives and contributions to our meetings.
