Know the Gap. Close the Gap.

BHA For Equality is running a hepatitis B campaign to shine a light on one of England’s most overlooked health inequities; over a quarter of a million people live with chronic hepatitis B, and fewer than half have been diagnosed. Guided by an Advisory Board of clinical, public health and lived experience voices, we’re raising awareness through in-person events, social media and community-led content, tackling stigma, and pushing for systemic change.

Our campaign was shaped from the start by an advisory board bringing together clinical expertise, national experience and lived experience of hepatitis B, including Supa Chantschool, CEO of HepB Companion, Dr F Javier Vilar, Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Co-Chair of the Greater Manchester and East Cheshire Viral Hepatitis Operational Delivery Network, Victoria Morris, Regional Facilitator for Blood Borne Viruses at NHS England, and a Community Engagement and Development Worker with lived experience of hepatitis B. Their knowledge and insight have helped us get our facts right, speak in a way that truly reflects people’s lives, and connect with important partners, including NHS England’s work on Viral Hepatitis Elimination, Liver disease and Health Inequalities.
