Sexual Health Advisor and Engagement Lead 

Hours: 35 hours full time or 28 hours part-time per week

Salary: NJC SP SO1 23 – 25 £27,741 – £29,577 per annum

Location – Manchester

Contract type: Fixed term until 30th June 2022 with the possibility of extension to funding.

 

BHA for Equality is looking for a Sexual Health Advisor and Engagement Lead to join their Greater Manchester sexual health team.

BHA is a leading health and social care charity that works to challenge health inequalities and support individuals, families & communities to improve their health & well-being.

We are seeking a passionate and motivated team member who is committed to improving the sexual health outcomes for Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority communities.

You will be joining a friendly, creative, and dedicated collaborative team who are determined to reduce sexual health inequalities and challenge HIV related stigma and discrimination.

Overview of the area of work:

  • To lead on developing and implementation of BHA’s sexual health Asset Based Community Development strategy.
  • To lead on all risk management procedures for the asset-based community development.
  • Raise awareness of sexual and reproductive health issues (via digital and community-based engagement)
  • Undertake asset-based community development (ABCD) activities to support individuals and their communities to determine, mobilise and develop their assets.
  • Recruit, train, and support community assets across all boroughs of Greater Manchester.
  • Ensure people from all communities can access HIV testing and other prevention tools so that no-one is left behind.

 

Experience of working with marginalised communities and working in a health-related field would be advantageous to your application.

Knowledge and understanding of Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority communities and the issues faced by them regarding access to sexual health provision would be essential.

The delivery of our work takes a blended approach (digital and community based) so strong interpersonal and digital skills are essential.
