Dry blood spot testing requires a small blood sample collected from a finger prick, the blood is dropped onto a card and left to dry for thirty minutes. It is then posted using the pre-paid envelope to the Northern Sexual Health Clinic where the results will be processed for HIV. Northern will contact you, usually within 14 days, with your results.

Your Home HIV test will be posted using a 1st class delivery service, Monday – Thursday. Your Home HIV test will arrive in discreet packaging, labelled with your name, address and a returns label. We will include a condom and lube pack with your order.
Following a positive result, a sexual health nurse will guide you through what happens next, what support is available, and arrangements will be made to see a HIV specialist who will take care of your health.
With an early diagnosis and access to treatment, HIV is a long-term manageable condition with normal life expectancy. HIV treatment is free. Many people with a HIV diagnosis on effective treatment become undetectable which means they will not transmit HIV to others.

After 3 weeks BHA will contact you to confirm that you have received your HIV test and to check whether you need any further information and advice and help with any referrals.
